i would make an external test drive first and only install the OS and maschine, and take it from there. you can bring you computer to a 'genius' bar and ask them to put sierra on it instead, although, most people have no issues with it and NI software and you will have to upgrade the os eventually.
High sierra is not a supported OS yet per the specifications of maschine on the NI website and unfortunately, apple will not let you get os 10.12 to downgrade unless you have 'purchased' it before, so you have to buy it on ebay on a usb drive if you do not already have it.
